I didn’t see the original report, just going on hear/say. Would like a link to the story or confirmation from a second person who heard it.

You’re a little bit behind, since this happened over 7 years ago, but here’s the story:

After the September 11 terrorist attacks on the USA, some news outlets asked or ordered their on-air personnel not to wear American flag lapel pins, red, white, and blue ribbons, or other patriotic symbols in order to "maintain an image of impartial neutrality" and to lessen the chances that overseas reporters could be harmed by those who might view them as an arm of the American government. Prominent among these outlets was the ABC network:

"ABC News has asked its staff not to wear American flag pins in their lapels, or even red, white and blue ribbons, in an effort to protect their credibility as objective sources.

"We cannot signal through outward symbols how we feel, even if the cause is justified," said ABC spokesman Jeffrey Schneider. "Overseas, it could be perceived that we’re just mouthpieces for the U.S. government, and that can place our journalists in danger."

Or does America no longer have the ability to produce our own Icons.
Do we need the advantage of Child labor to make our Icons in the price range we like.

You could try it but your prices would be higher in order to reflect higher labor costs. People tend to favor price over loyalty to "Made in the USA."

I truly don’t want to spend very much (less than $50) on a pin. Maybe even $25… Something very simple to hold my scarf/wrap together. It doesn’t see that may places sell brooches anymore. I am only in my twenties and don’t want anything "grandmotherly". Any ideas please?? I am searching with no luck!

Well I don’t know, you may try Target or an antique store (they might not even be "grandmotherly"). Everything old is new again.

Maybe you are more patriotic than those who physically help veterans? Or who vote in favor of veteran spending.

Who is more patriotic?: Someone who crosses their heart for the National Anthem or someone who does not cross their heart for the National Anthem.

I’ve tried both. The wire-twisting pliers seem to give me a better twist to the wire. Still it;s really not uniform. The ends are more tightly twisted than is the middle, regardless of the length of the wire or how tightly I twist it. Any ideas on how to fix that? I’m using 20ga square wire, sterling silver, if that makes any difference to your answer.

I feel that twist on the dangle beads sounds the same as what you mentioned. So I asked Alice how did she crafted the twist. Alice is very professional. She told me"she use two pliers, one is round nose pliers and the other is curved nose pliers"
1) use the round nose plier to make a loop
2) and then use the curved nose plier to clip the loop and use round one to twist

By the way, my friend, I also have a question wait your help. I noticed you wrote "20ga square wire". What’s the meaning of "gauge"? could i use it to describe the head pins diameter or thickness? Or does it only can be used on wire?

Aren’t they the same thing?

A broach is a large (kind of like a button.. it can be a solid metal usually an animal or flower(usually sprayed to look gold or silver) but it can be beaded or clothe and it usually looks like an animal or flower… but it can look like anything a book, food item… ect…
broaches are usually the size of a 50 cent piece or bigger

a pin is a smaller broach same qualities just in a smaller version…
a pin is usually the six of a nickel or bigger.

I hear her name for VP. Well she doesn’t wear flag pins, why isn’t she wearing?

She is not up for VP. I do not wear them either except on flag day IF I remember to put one on. How about you? Obama chooses to pledge his allegiance to Africa along with his "church". Rice pledges allegiance to America.
