broaches are usually the size of a 50 cent piece or bigger

a pin is a smaller broach same qualities just in a smaller version…
a pin is usually the six of a nickel or bigger.

*** A brooch is a pin, but a pin is not a brooch.

A brooch is large and usually beaded and worn on a womans front side, but pins can be any size and any shape.

A brooch usually has a connotation of being a larger vintage estate piece. A pin is usually more informal. A brooch sometimes can be used as a pendant or to hold a scarf or piece of clothing.

A brooch is a type of a pin. A pin is a device used to fasten materials together. A brooch is a decorative jewelery item or pin used to fasten fabrics or to be attached to a piece of clothing.
