Why do educators ban patriotic clothing from schools?
I realize that this may be one of those questions that has no "one" answer, but it seems like we hear about this a lot on the Internet or the news. Someone at a school comes down on a student wearing something patriotic like a flag, a support our troops pin, etc. Considering these things almost always become a publicity nightmare for these schools why does it keep happening? It’d be hard for me to imagine my teacher telling me that the flag was bad back when I went to school. I’m pretty sure they would have locked him up as a communist. So why does it happen now?
The school administrations do this so the illegal immigrants enrolled at the school are not offended and cause fights.
What the school administrations should be doing instead is sacking the illegal criminal immigrants who are enrolled at the schools and throw them out.
There is simply to much pandering to the illegals. It is getting out of hand.
Is Sarah Palin a patriotic American?
Has anyone asked Sarah Palin if she is a patriotic American why can the anti-American extremists at the Alaska Independence Party always depend on her to speak at their conventions? All of those people who were so outraged about Obama not wearing a flag pin, where is your outrage now? Here she is speaking to them several months ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrI…
To me, this seriously puts into doubt her commitment to the United States of America. When is she going to explain this?
Sorry, the first link doesn’t work. The second one does.
No one will know. McCain isn’t, nor the Republican party going to let anyone know alot about this woman, when people get to close, it’s sexist. She’s an unknown from Alaska, but sure can run her mouth about someone she has never seen in person. Her speeches are written for her, which shows or should show to alot of people, how did she get voted into the offices she had or has now.
Keep me in the dark and feed me BS, I’ll never be able to say anything about you.
How many of you wear a flag pin?
If not, how do you feel about your country/flag? Are you patriotic?
Bear:are you serious?? We really have petty concerns if people feel like you. I’m a war vet and I don’t wear one—am i not patriotic?
it’s on a jacket – seriously! I don’t wear the jacket much since it doesn’t really go with things.
I am very patriotic. However, I’m not running for president so I don’t have to prove I love my country.
McCain going "Un-Patriotic"? ?
I feel like McCain time and time again has been copying Obama’s strategy to gain the attention of the undecided voters…
* I recently thought of the notion of how attacking Obama’s patriotism only made him look more patriotic…so is McCain "Going Un-Patriotic" to stir up some critism’s?
His yard signs don’t have Red, White, Or Blue (well an ugly blue color I guess you could constitute as blue)…they say McCain/Palin in gold writing.

He didn’t wear a flag pin at the debate…

Anyone else picking up on this?
Well atleast one person appreciates humor and the ironic nature of everything that is happening in this election.
Yes i caught the pin right away i think palin took it for her letter jacket
Is it possible for neocons to determine who’s more patriotic with a freedumb fry-eating contest? Perhaps…
a thumb-wrestling competition would be more appropriate? Both contestants could paint a miniature American flag on their thumbnails. The guy with a yellow-ribbom magnet on his SUV would get bonus points. The guy with an American flag lapel pin would get mega-bonus points.
No, it is not possible. If we truly wanted to find out who is and who is not patriotic we’d have to include the liberals so we’d have a negative side too.
Your question is stupid.
Sarcasm stinks when it is done ineptly.
Is Obama patriotic?
Please read the following new article. Should we elect someone who isn’t patriotic? What is your opinion? Is this true?
"Sen. Barack Obama’s refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin along with a photo of him not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem led conservatives on Internet and in the media to question his patriotism…."

VERY! He loves America enough to want to change it for the better – like all REAL Americans want!
What is Obamas view on flag burning?
I know McCain is totally against it, and i would think Obama probably doesnt care because so far it seems like he is not the most patriotic person i have ever seen thats for sure. With the flag pin, no hand over his heart, Wright and all that. Who knows thought maybe ill be surprised, if you have a source of his voting record on flag burning that would be nice. Thanks!
If you don’t want flags burned, why not make them out of flame retardant materials. Of course, I don’t think you’re looking for a serious answer. You’ll most likely pick a "best" answer that says Obama’s in "favor" of it and blah blah blah.
The ritualized burning of the American flag is considered an appropriate way to dispose of a damaged or soiled flag. Flags are burned in retirement ceremonies by the American Legion, Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts,[23] The Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Sons of the American Legion.
Obama supporters have any of you regularly wore a pin to show your so-called "patriotic" support for America?
I cannot ever remember wearing a lapel pin to show that I am loyal to my country and that it made a difference in how I viewed my own country, America. Does this mean I love My Country even less?
I see the hatemongers of Obama love to throw this in he mix when they think they’re slandering Obama but I’ve rarely seen any of our elected officials wearing a lapel pin, mostly not ever. Have any of you?
Obama’s new site is very telling of the TRUTH to combat all the ridiculous lies and ignoramuses who choose to bombard the forum and some outside the forum as well (but not the majority) with lies and slander. The conclusion is oh so clear; misery loves company. See Obama’s new ANTI-SMEAR site:

Pretty great, huh? Thanks for weighing Obama supporters!
I couldn’t care less what he wears or doesn’t wear. I look a little deeper than that. Besides, if you look up the rules and regulations on flag etiquette….it distinctly says…you shall not wear the flag on your person…not on clothes, not on pins….etc…According to the rules and regulations…it’s unpatriotic to do so. Not to mention it looks tacky. No offense but it does.
Which candidate seems more patriotic to you?
To me it is McCain. Yes Obama is a public servant in the senate but so is McCain and for a longer time. McCain has over 20 years in the service and was a prisoner of war in Vietnam. I’m sure Obama likes America or else he would not be running but I think he wants to change a lot which might no be so good. And sometimes I am just not sure how patriotic Obama is, having trouble wearing and American pin, having a peculiar minister, changing an american flag on his airplane, mocking Joe the Plumber, having some old radical friends and I am not even so sure yet about the true facts if he was born in Kenya or Hawaii, so it’s a little foggy.
I don’t think Patriotism works that way. It’s like looking at two women and trying to figure out which is more pregnant, or looking at two cadavers and trying to figure out which is more dead. Some things either are or they aren’t, with no middle ground. In this case, both men are Patriots.
Wearing a flag pin will not make you a patriot any more than sticking feathers up your butt will make you a chicken.
And Joe the Plumber deserves whatever scorn he’s getting, he stood up and told bold-faced lies. Americans aren’t liars- and this isn’t the example of Patriotism that Republicans should be holding up.
Supporting the new GI Bill for our troops, or wearing a flag pin – Which is more important? More patriotic?
Which is more pariotic – supporting our troops or wearing a flag pin?
McCain opposes the new GI bill to help our troops rebuild their lives after they have served their country in wartime.
Obama supports it – I know to some people that’s being a socialist… Why give handouts to our country’s heroes? What ever happened to personal responsibility?
But Obama doesn’t always wear a flag pin, and he knows some idiots. So he must hate America, right?
McCain served his country well during Viet Nam, and often as a Senator. He can be proud of that.
But I don’t care whether or not he wears his patriotism on his sleeve, or on his lapel for show. It is time to serve his country again and support our veterans.
Unless it’s okay to disrespect and deprive our national heroes, provided you’re wearing your flag pin…
Bravo, John – and thanks for your service to our country!
Nightwind – Yes, I did serve my country. I am a disabled US Veteran who served during Viet Nam. My son is a US Marine, and my stepson and his wife both currently serve in the USAF.
When I got out the GI bill was never explained to me, and I received no counseling on how to use it. Many of my fellow vets were conned out of much, or all of their GI Bill, and I didn’t make the best use of it because I didn’t know how.
My advice to veterans – Use the service organizations – DAV, VFW, etc. They are more than happy to help whether or not you’re a member, and are generally much more reliable and helpful than government veteran’s agencies.
Nightwind, thanks for your service!
Jungle Surgeon – thanks for your support! As an older, 100% rated veteran, I would love to see our compensation keep up with inflation, let alone increase a bit. Our vets – all of them, disabled or not, deserve much more than this country is willing to give them. And they don’t deserve to be treated like they are by the Bush administration, or by decisions by McCain and others to deprive them of benefits to help pay for handouts to corporations and the wealthiest of Americans.
I guess to qualify your question, i’ have to ask…did you ever serve in the armed forces.
Well, I did…for 20 years, and the GI bill had its flaws. I can’t say i’ve studied the issue now that i’m retired, but I was under the VEAP program, which wasn’t anywhere as good as the GI bill…and when many of us asked about the ability to transfer from VEAP to the GI bill…..well..lets just say some commands wheren’t all that forth-right with the information and many got screwed out of the opportunity.
If you want to actually compare what the average enlisted man makes in the service, it isn’t that great of pay. The program for GI was meant to help out with education costs which i’m sure you have read about regarding the gouging of the college students and those with student loans. Compared with the economy in the past or now, an education has gone up many time more than the cost of living, gas, or food.
So its kind of hard to be "responsible" for yourself and your family on so little pay. The American fighting man and woman has always been one of America’s greatest bargains. It isn’t so much a "socialist" program as it is a necessity to help out our way underpaid personel in uniform.
