Want to get your hair away from your face quickly but don’t have a hair tie? No worries! I’ve got a solution for those with medium to long hair. I’ve been doing this trick since 8th grade, and a lot of my classmates/friends/strangers ask me how I do it, so I figured I’d share it with you!

Remember, this is more for functionality than for looks — but you can make it nice and neat too if you want!

I’m trying to tie my bandana like the vintage pin up girls. Everytime I tie it on top the corners always stick out to the sides. How do you tie the bandana to make it look like a head band where the corners arent sticking out. I dont want to tuck the corners in. I want the corners but shorter so they dont look stupid.

My recommendation is to use a modified square knot, where you make several twists in the tails before closing the knot. This will shorten the tails while keeping the knot from protruding out, which I suspect would be worse. Hope that helps.

Sega Dreamcast with built-in VGA box, LED sequencer, and region change. Same system as seen in an earlier video, but I drilled some extra holes in the disc lid so the LEDs are more visible.

Now with geek voice commentary. Unfortunately that is more or less my normal voice.

What I forgot to say in the commentary is that it is line-level audio coming from the headphone jack, so actually plugging regular headphones straight in is a bad idea. It is better to use something with an in-line volume control. You can still hear the Dreamcast audio recorded with my camera’s microphone even though the headphones were on the floor.

One more thing, I stupidly used a SPST toggle switch connected to both pins 6 and 7 on the A/V port, so the only video output options are composite, S-video, and 31 kHz VGA. 15 kHz RGB is no longer available even if a SCART cable is plugged into the A/V port. Oops, I should have used a DPST toggle switch instead, but I do not think I can replace it at this point.

New info added 2008-08-09!
Websites with information on all the mods. Sorry for the delay, I think YouTube disallowed hyperlinks in the video descriptions earlier.

Region change:

http://www.lyris-lite.net/fu_archives/000601.html

Very easy mod.

LED schematic:

http://metku.net/index.html?sect=view&n=1&path=mods/vilkkuvalot1/index_eng

Moderate difficulty in planning, but nothing tough electronically.

VGA schematic:

http://www.gamesx.com/grafx/dricas.gif

Very difficult planning and soldering to the A/V port at the motherboard. The IC is not required, it is OK to just send everything straight to the VGA connector through the appropriate resistors and capacitors. Also, do not tie pins 6 and 7 together as done in the diagram. Connect them to a DPST toggle switch, then you can have RGB and VGA separately enabled (i.e. for using a SCART cable).

2 wedding coming up and i have got this suit. It is black with very subtle purple pin stripe. I was thinking a matching shirt and tie, but don’t know what color to go for… any ideas would be good

Black suits are dicey for daytime. Traditionally, navy and charcoal have been preferred, as they look better under bright light. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but if you have blue or grey, wear it.

That said, the best shirt and tie for weddings is a white French cuff shirt and a silver-checked tie. Daniel Craig gets the general idea across:

http://www.quantamofsolace.com/wp-content/themes/rockin-chrome-1/images/quantum-of-solace.jpg

These types of ties are what to look for:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_B6J6nGs6VwA/SMFNoTBATjI/AAAAAAAAGX0/KX5H00r3fFE/s320/For+the+gents+Peckham+Rye+houndstooth+silk+tie+at+asoscom.jpg

http://www.jaanj.com/img/med/tt_small_plaid_eerisscross_gray_a-med.jpg

In combinations of white, black and silver, they’re what the British call "wedding ties." They go with any complexion, work with most any suit or jacket, and add interest without being too busy.

A white pocket square is also highly advisable. Fold it, puff it, plop it, whatever.

First, brush up your hair. Do that a couple of times in order to make it loose. Then, take a small section of your hair from the front (hold the rest with your other hand). Arc that small section and tie it loosely with the rest of the hair. That’s how you get that bumpy look. Hope that helps.

I show local hunt seat shows, & I’ve always just worn an embroidered collar, but that’s what everyone here wears, & I thought I might stick out a little if I started wearing a stock tie. Do you guys feel that they’re more of a pain than they’re worth, or not?

For regular classes (that aren’t hunter derbies or classics) I just stick with a collar but for the classics and derbies I wear one with my shadbelly. To each their own. I think they look very classy, though.

I have removed the old cotter pin and have removed the tie rod from the spindle but cannot remove the tie rod end from the inner tie rod end as all it does is spin. What do I need to do to prevent the inner tie rod end from spinning to remove the outer tie rod end ?

Large pair of channel locks….or if you look closely there might be a hex-nut molded onto the tie-rod body that a spanner will fit on..
Otherwise just grap the link arm with the channel locks and give ‘er hell
A little heat (propane torch) on the tie rod body will also do amazing things
And don’t let anyone tell you , you need an alignment afterwards…if you do it carefully (count threads/rotations) you should be able to fit the new one and preserve the alignment.
